SUMMARY:Shelby County Genealogical Society Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Shelby County Genealogical Society is pleased to announce that Shane Conley will be our guest speaker on October 13\, 2026.  Shane’s topic is “Inventors of Shelby County”. \nFollow along as Shane shares information and stories about inventors of Shelby County.  This program takes a look at some of the US Patent holders with a connection to Shelby County.  Lesser-known ideas and inventions to some that almost everyone knows.  This presentation will explore brief stories behind the people who were inventing in Shelby County. \nShane has provided programs in the past for SCGS.  He was born in Dayton\, Ohio and raised in Miami and Shelby counties of a farming family.  Shane retired from Five Rivers MetroParks.  His interests include: genealogy\, local history\, hiking\, reading and travel.  He was long ago designated the family ‘historian’ and given old family documents\, diaries\, photos\, etc.  He collected stories of previous family generations starting at age nine by writing letters to my then living grandparents and great-grandparents.  An active member of Ancestry.com since 2001\, he volunteers for Troy Local History Library\, and is the Recording/Corresponding Secretary for Miami County Historical and Genealogical Society\, a member of the Dayton Region Walk of Fame Committee and a volunteer docent at Woodland Cemetery & Arboretum in Dayton\, Ohio.  He is continuing a life-long quest to discover and tell the stories of his ancestors. \nAs a side note from the SCGS: Are you aware that the Wallace Family Learning & Innovation Center (part of the Shelby County Historical Society) is on the Ohio Innovation Trail\, part of the America 250 Ohio Trails & Tales program?  Come visit the Learning Center one day!

DESCRIPTION:Tickets will be available at SCHS the beginning September 7 for members and September 14 for the general public!\n\nPlease join us for the 19th Annual Ghost Walk around our historic Downtown Sidney! This ticketed event will lead you on a guided tour through Sidney’s rich and often tragic history. Be prepared for an approximately 2 hour tour with lots of walking. The tour will begin in the parking lot behind Courtview Center\, located at 100 S.
