DESCRIPTION:Kickoff your Holiday Weekend by taking a walk or run along the Canal Feeder Trail behind Graceland Cemetery Friday\, July 3rd at 6:30 PM and help raise support for the Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation!\n\nYou can walk\, jog\, or run through the park & furry friends are encouraged to join! Funds from the 5k directly support SCARF’s mission to vaccinate shelter pets from the Bob Sargeant & Family Shelby County Animal Shelter. We know that happy healthy pets are more adoptable and that vaccinations prevent the spread of deadly diseases such as Parvo from decimating the animals in our shelter. If bringing a canine\, retractable leashes are not permitted. Please ensure that your canine is current on their vaccinations.\nT-shirts will also be given to the first 75 people who check in the day of the event!\n\nThere is a $30 cost to register for this event. From the shattered ridgelines of Verdun to the storm‑lashed sands of Normandy and US Army Air Corps airfields in England this presentation plunges you into landscapes where history refuses to fade. Witness the scars still etched into the earth. Feel the weight of sacrifice in the cemeteries that stretch beyond the horizon. Stand in the very places where ordinary men faced impossible odds. This is not just a lecture. It is a confrontation with memory\, courage\, and the echoes of war that still linger in the wind. \nBill Albers was born in Amsterdam\, the Netherlands (Holland) where he grew up as a child during a five-year occupation by the Germans during WWII. In 1965\, he came to America as an engineering intern. He also spent some time working for Sperry Rand in Montreal\, Canada\, before returning to the United States and became a U.S. citizen in 1977. He retired in 2008\, lives in Sidney\, and volunteers at the Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana \nand with the WACO Aviation Museum in Troy. \nWe hope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the 10th Annual Ladies Afternoon Tea event held at the Ross Historical Center! This year’s theme is America 250\, so feel free to dress in your best patriotic attire!\n\nThis year we are changing things up and will not only have a three course spread filled with a fun spin on cuisine often associated with the United States of America\, but a unique form of entertainment as well. Brush up on your American history and repertoire of patriotic music and come prepared to have a great time!\n\nTickets are $20 for SCHS members and $22 for non-members. They may be purchased in our office or over the phone. Doors will be open by 11 AM for a fun activity before the meal is served at 11:30 AM.\n\n*If you have any allergy issues\, please let our staff know when purchasing your ticket*
