DESCRIPTION:Kickoff your Holiday Weekend by taking a walk or run along the Canal Feeder Trail behind Graceland Cemetery Friday\, July 3rd at 6:30 PM and help raise support for the Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation!\n\nYou can walk\, jog\, or run through the park & furry friends are encouraged to join! Funds from the 5k directly support SCARF’s mission to vaccinate shelter pets from the Bob Sargeant & Family Shelby County Animal Shelter. We know that happy healthy pets are more adoptable and that vaccinations prevent the spread of deadly diseases such as Parvo from decimating the animals in our shelter. If bringing a canine\, retractable leashes are not permitted. Please ensure that your canine is current on their vaccinations.\nT-shirts will also be given to the first 75 people who check in the day of the event!\n\nThere is a $30 cost to register for this event. This event is part of Shelby County’s ongoing celebration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. \nExplore: \n\nFamily games and crafts\nInteractive history timelines and exhibits\nLive music and entertainment\nLocal vendors and artisan booths\nFood trucks and summer treats\n\nChildren will love the Kids’ Corner\, full of games and themed crafts\, while adults and history buffs can stroll through America 250 exhibits featuring moments\, people\, and innovations that helped shape our nation. \nEnjoy performances by local musicians\, browse unique handmade goods\, and grab delicious bites from a variety of food vendors.\nAs the sun sets\, the celebration continues with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk—a perfect ending to a day full of hometown pride and historic reflection. \nAdmission is free\, and all are welcome! The gates will open at 8 AM on the Shelby County Fairgrounds. \nBring your lawn chairs\, your family\, and your patriotic spirit for a day of community celebration honoring America’s past\, present\, and future.
