SUMMARY:Three Trails of America Hike: Miami-Erie\, Buckeye\, North Country Trail - Lake Loramie
DESCRIPTION:This out-and-back hike will begin at the south end of Loramie dam (next to Morrie’s Restaurant)\, and we will walk-hike three different trails at once. Buckeye Trail\, Miami-Erie Canal Trail\, and North Country Trail \nExpect a 4-mile trek through rough terrain. Some of it turns muggy hot on sunny days and some of it floods when it rains. Definitely bring some hydration.  *And absolutely* wear rugged water-resistant shoes\, insect repellant\, and prefer   ably long pants. (CROCs or FLIP FLOPS? No. Just … No.). \nThis is 5+ mile hike covers all three trails and a lot of history. Wear suitable shoes/boots for uneven terrain\, grass and asphalt\, and possibly one water-logged section. Weather insect repellant\, and bring hydration for the passages out in the sun. Hikers will receive an America 250 sticker\, 3 historical images\, blue blaze info\, and a ticket for a cool treat. \nPark along the old road access or in the camper overflow. \nParticipants who finish the hike will receive an American 250 logo\, 3 laminated local history cards\, an ODNR Gold Award sticker\, and a token good for one sweet treat from the camp store! \n  \n Did You Know? \nThe Miami-Erie canal is the reason the lake is here\, and Loramie Summit is the highest point on the 150+ yr old Miami-Erie Canal … which makes the MEC trail one of the oldest. The Buckeye Trail (BT) and North Country Trail (NCT) – much newer and better marked and maintained- join the same path. A bucket list triple-play on a sesquicentennial year. Brilliant! \n  \n      All programs are subject to change. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Recreation programs and activities can be inherently dangerous. Participants accept and acknowledge that any injury or property damage that occurs during a program or activity is NOT the responsibility of ODNR or its naturalist educators. \nODNR or its naturalist educators.
