Way-Wel-Ea-Py

Serving as the principle speaker of the Shawnee, he delivered all the opinions and positions of the Shawnee tribe at all treaties and other assemblies. Col. Johnston said he often met this chief at his trading post in Wapakoneta, Ohio; that he was a fine looking Indian, and was always ready to cultivate the friendship of the pioneers. He went west with his tribe, where he lived for many years.

'Indian' segment written in December, 1997 by David Lodge
