"The millennium is certainly near at
hand. A few weeks ago the pastor of a Methodist congregation at Versailles, Darke county,
commenced holding a series of religious meetings at Newport in the western part of this
county. An interest was at once taken by a few persons in the cause, and at last accounts
twenty-six persons had become professed Christians. A Catholic church as been the only
place of worship in that section of country for many years. This good work has been
brought about by Rev. Reuben Rouch" (Sidney Journal, Mar. 8, 1871).
