Women Index Page

Throughout history, women have always played an active role in society. They have been the spies, soldiers, and prisoners of war.  They also raised money/supplies for armies, and kept farms and families going so that soldiers would have something to come home to.  The invention of the bicycle (then followed by the automobile) were very liberating -- providing females with the 'vehicle' to begin traveling on their own.  Women were able to move from the sidelines to the frontlines in sports and careers, obtaining professional success in their own right.
