Chief Peter Cornstalk
Said to be the son of Chief Cornstalk, Peter Cornstalk was a man of honor and a
firm friend of the white man. It is said that he visited the trading posts in this area
regularly, and was know to many of the pioneers in Shelby County, Ohio. According to
local folklore, Point Pleasant has seen its share of devastating floods and fires, some
attribute it to the dying curse of the great Shawnee chieftain, Cornstalk.
