The purpose of this book is to perpetuate the tradition and heritage of SHS football while providing funds for its continued operation at a high level.

Writing this book has been an absolute joy.  Even though I’ve moved from the corporation limit, I have never felt closer to my hometown or my high school.  Local history is fascinating as I learned much from the non-football realm while combing the microfilmed pages of no less then four local newspapers along with several from around the valley.  Throughout my research, I found myself saying “I wish I could have been there!”  In many cases, I feel like I was.

For almost all of my years, Sidney High School football has been an important part of my life.  This book represents a partial payback to those who’ve made it possible, especially the men wo coached me from the fifth grade through the varsity level:  bob Cotner, Skip Swank, John Kaylor, Don Eckhart, Gary Kiethley, Bob Schultz, John Wolfinger, Jim Abbott, Dave Haines, and Gary Reed.  To all concerned, thanks a million!!!
